Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden says they need to buy more players like Miguel Almiron.
The Paraguay midfielder, before being injured, impressed after arriving from Atlanta United in January.
Hayden told the Evening Chronicle: "We've obviously had the addition of Miguel Almiron - and I think going forward as a football club we have to start bringing in additions of that nature and that stature, otherwise you're not going to compete in the Premier League if you're not doing that because everyone else is doing it.
"It's definitely something to think about going on.
"The investment, realistically, to become a top four club you're talking half-a-billion-pounds, and even then you're not guaranteed it because you have to gel the team but I think realistically that 7th-10th position is where this club should be challenging for."
