Hasselbaink quits Burton Albion: I have taken the club as far as I can

Former Chelsea and Leeds striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has resigned as Burton Albion manager.

Hasselbaink was appointed manager on New Year's Day last year but now departs the Pirelli Stadium for the second time.

The 50-year-old Dutchman has overseen a woeful run of form which has seen them lose six and draw one of their seven League One games this season.

Hasselbaink told the club's official website: "I have taken the club as far as I can with the limited resources available and it is time for someone else to come in and inject some new energy.

"I would like to thank the fans, and everyone associated with the club, including the chairman [Ben Robinson], and to wish them all the best in the future."

Assistant manager Dino Maamria will take charge of their weekend game against Fleetwood Town.
