Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl lamented his side's inability to finish chances against Everton.
The Saints put up a good fight against a high flying Toffees team on Monday, but were undone 1-0.
The result means they only have one point from the past nine matches, a run of form that is as poor as relegation battling sides.
"We had not a lot but a few chances in the second half, but at the moment we don't find the back of the net," said Hasenhuttl post-game.
"I saw a team in the second half fighting to turn everything around but at the moment we are missing the final punch in the final third for the ball to go in. We had a lot of corners and set pieces but they defended well.
"It was tough to score and at the moment we are a little bit short of goals and this makes winning games difficult."
