Liverpool youngster Harvey Elliott has revealed his family supporting the club has meant a great deal to him.
Elliott was nearly a Real Madrid player back in 2019 when he was emerging in the youth leagues.
He signed as a 16-year-old from Fulham, partly because of his family's affiliation with the club.
Elliott was asked about Real Madrid's interest on the We Are Liverpool podcast and stated: “I was close to going to Madrid and then I think Liverpool came in.
“And as soon as I heard they had come in, that was it. My heart was set on it, just because of being a Liverpool fan, all the family.
“It was my dad's dream to play for Liverpool himself, but he didn't quite make it in that way.
“My little brother as well is a massive Liverpool supporter, probably one of the biggest I've ever seen in my life, he's always coming to me with information that I didn't even know.
“Something that also played a big part was my brother and sister, moving them around, it is a new culture and different language and they were at such a young age as well.
“Settling in for me wasn't the problem, it was just about my family and I just wanted them to be happy as much as anything."
