Steve Harper is ready for a Newcastle United recall against West Bromwich Albion this weekend.

The Evening Chronicle says Rob Elliot sustained an ankle injury in the 3-0 loss to Sunderland.

With Tim Krul also ruled out for the rest of the season with a dislocated shoulder, it leaves the door open for Harper to make at least one swansong appearance in the final few games of the campaign.

The 38-year-old has already announced that he will leave the club at the end of the season after United decided not to renew his contract.
