Steve Harper is confident young teammate Fraser Forster won't let anyone down should he be called on by Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce.

Harper and Forster are the only two fit keepers currently at Newcastle and Harper said: "There's a reserve game today, and I'm not sure whether Fraser will be involved. Tim Krul is out on loan and even the two younger lads we've got are injured at the moment.

"I'm sure they'd have to go down the emergency (loan) route if anything was to happen to me. Having said that, though, Fraser's improvement has been fantastic and if the worst was to happen, I'm sure he'd be in there and would be capable of handling it."
