Joel Campbell is set to lead the line for Arsenal today against Southampton.

The Daily Star says Danny Welbeck has failed to recover from thigh injury, Olivier Giroud is banned and Yaya Sanogo is absent due to a hamstring problem.

That paves the way for Campbell to make a surprise appearance.

The 22-year-old Costa Rica World Cup star has made just four substitute appearances for the Gunners this season since returning from his loan spell at Greek side Olympiacos.

But Wenger is understood to be favouring playing Campbell through the middle, instead of Lukas Podolski or Theo Walcott.
