Hannover boss Slomka expresses interest for Liverpool striker Nemeth

Hannover manager Mirko Slomka has expressed interest in Liverpool striker Krisztian Nemeth.

Rafa Benitez's departure from Anfield and the arrival of Roy Hodgson as manager has led to suggestions that Nemeth does not have a future on Merseyside beyond this summer.

As a result, speculation has implied that Italian side Lecce have bid £1million for the forward and Hannover are also being linked, with Slomka admitting a previous interest but confessing that he does not know if the player is for sale.

Slomka told Bild: "He is a good player with decent speed and he has been on loan at AEK Athens recently.

"He did not play many matches in recent campaigns and I am not aware if he is affordable."

But Hannover general manager Jorg Schmadtke said: "I am not aware of that player."

Nemeth's agent, Tibor Pataly, claims there is a lot of interest in his client and that he is looking for regular playing time.

"There are several interested clubs," Pataly said. "Some from Italy, Spain, Greece and even from the Bundesliga. We are looking for a club who will give him first-team experience."
