Hamburg have rejected an approach from West Bromwich Albion for their scouting chief Lee Congerton.

Albion made an approach to Hamburg for Congerton, a former Chelsea employee, says the Birmingham Mail.

That approach was swiftly rejected by the Bundesliga club.

It remains to be seen whether Albion will return during the coming days.

Alternatives include Andy Marriott, who was assistant to Dan Ashworth at Albion before moving to join Mercedes' F1 venture.
