Holland coach Bert van Marwijk says Jeffrey Bruma's loan from Chelsea to German club Hamburg SV has been a positive move for the teenager.
The defender is on a season-long loan with the Bundesliga's bottom-placed team and has already made four league appearances which van Marwijk feels has helped his progress.
"Jeffrey is a very talented guy, who I think had some difficult years at Chelsea," he told Onsoranje.
"He arrived there and barely played a game. Actually he only played for the reserves.
"Luckily he is now at HSV. In September he made a good impression in training with the national team. That's why I called him again. And I'm glad he played a few games for Hamburg.
"Jeffrey is quick and agile, big and strong. He now needs to get a lot of playing time and I also think that he is a guy who needs good people around him on the field."
