Hamburg are close to signing released West Bromwich Albion midfielder Paul Scharner.
Scharner is currently a free agent and could ink terms with HSV today.
"He is exactly the guy we were looking for. Experienced, but still energetic. He is here to not only fill up the squad," said coach Thomas Fink.
