Joe Gyau reportedly wants to sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund.

The 22-year old American winger is currently recovering from a meniscus injury which is expected to keep him sidelined until later in the year.

Two-time USA international Gyau is contracted with the German club until the summer of 2017 but his agent has hinted that there could be a 12-month extension on that existing deal once he returns from the knee problem.

"Dortmund is happy with Joe, and Joe is happy at Dortmund," Gyau's agent Christian Rapp told MLSsoccer.com.

"The most important thing right now is him getting fit again."

Florida-born Gyau joined Dortmund from Hoffenheim last summer after spending time on loan with St Pauli.
