Brad Guzan says he's ready to be Aston Villa's No1 with Shay Given out injured.

Villa's perennial No 2 cannot wait to gorge himself over the festive period as he tries to polish off six matches in 20 days.

The USA international told The Sun: "Like everyone else, I want regular first-team football. Unfortunately, I've found myself behind two of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League.

"Brad Friedel and Shay Given are proven winners and the experience they have is unbelievable.

"Working with them on a day-to-day basis has helped me to improve - on the other hand it's frustrating I haven't had much opportunity to show what I'm capable of until now."
