Gunter happy after first Tottenham campaign

Chris Gunter is happy with his first season at Tottenham.

The young defender told Spurs TV Online: "It's been brilliant. I was really excited when the move was going through and, since arriving, it's been everything I wanted it to be.

"I didn't know what to expect because moving away from Wales to London as an 18-year-old is not something everyone does. But I'm lucky that I live only two minutes away from the training ground and I settled in really quickly. You get to know the boys and the staff better as time goes on, and I've found all that quite easy.

"My aim is always to play - you wouldn't be a footballer otherwise - but I was on the bench against Chelsea away after my first week and things like that are fantastic for me as an 18-year-old.

"I also came off the bench at Old Trafford and made my Premier League debut at Everton. When I arrived I didn't know what to expect in terms of playing, so to be chucked in that early was a brilliant experience for me."

Looking ahead to next season, he added: "I was in a similar position at Cardiff this time last year, wanting to come back in pre-season and really kick on. Thankfully I did that at Cardiff and that's what I want to do here, come back fit and ready and put myself in the Head Coach's mind."
