Ilkay Gundogan has addressed his Barcelona teammates after Saturday's furious reaction over defeat to Real Madrid.

After the 2-1 loss Gundogan let rip, slamming the reaction of Barca's players to the setback. The former Manchester City captain was left unimpressed by the lack of "anger" from his teammates over the result.

On Wednesday afternoon for the squad's match analysis session, Gündogan asked to speak and gave an explanations for his rant, says Barcelona Radio.

He told teammates that he wasn't referring to anyone specifically and that he was just angry about losing. Then the group, with Xavi at the head, offered self-criticism, some errors were analysed and everyone ended up agreeing to fight back on Saturday in Anoeta against Real Sociedad.

Gundogan was assured his words had not bothered the group, stated a source, "Everyone interpreted it as the reflection of a born winner like the German, but Gündogan still wanted to clarify what he said to strengthen the spirit within the squad".
