There is growing support on Tyneside for Newcastle United to make Patrick Vieira their next manager.

The Daily Mail says the Manchester City Elite Development Squad chief is currently under a 12-month rolling contract at the Etihad but is keen to explore managerial options.

And his name has attracted strong support on Tyneside over the weekend. Newcastle are desperate to get fans back onside after another season stained by protests and terrace unrest.

Vieira would certainly represent a fresh start and his appointment would feel like the beginning of a new era at St James' Park.

Newcastle, though, must first convince him that their club is the best place to begin his managerial career.
