Mame Biram Diouf will not feature for Stoke City when the Premier League returns this weekend.
The 27-year-old Senegalese striker tragically lost his mother in a disastrous stampede during the Hajj Islamic pilgrimage at Mecca in Saudi Arabia recently.
Diouf was granted compassionate leave by the Potters and is due to return to England next week, which will keep him out of Monday night's meeting with Swansea City.
"The likelihood is that he will come back early next week, but he'll miss the game on Monday," said Stoke manager Mark Hughes.
Diouf has been a key part of the Stoke squad this season having scored three goals which came in draws against Tottenham and Norwich and the late winner against Bournemouth in late September.
