Gold Coast United facing fine over opening round melee

Gold Coast United are facing a fine following their opening round melee with rivals Brisbane Roar.

The club has until 5pm today to make a submission to the tribunal to prove themselves innocent and beat the charge of misconduct issued by Football Federation Australia.

Both Gold Coast and Brisbane will face another charge for having five or more players cautioned during the match.

United officials refused to comment yesterday because they did not want to influence the judiciary.
