Gold Coast United striker Shane Smeltz is now three clear of the pack in the race for the A-League's Golden Boot. The New Zealand international took his season tally to 12 when he netted an equaliser against the Central Coast Mariners on Saturday night which made the gap between he and second-placed Robbie Fowler of North Queensland Fury three goals.

Smeltz's goal enabled Gold Coast to level the score before netting a late winner that saw them jump back to third on the table, replacing the Mariners in that position.

Matt Simon moved to six for the season with his first-half striker for Central Coast in the same game whilst Sydney striker Alex Brosque netted a double to move to five for the season.
