Gold Coast United have made an exciting addition to their initial squad by signing Young Socceroos midfielder James Brown. Miron Bleiberg, coach of Gold Coast, has high hopes for the Australian Institute of Sport representative and is excited about the 18-year olds future.
A bout of osteitis pubis laid doubt in some clubs minds when considering Brown who is currently on duty for the Young Socceroos in Saudi Arabia but Bleiberg was sure of the youngsters talents.
"It was lucky for us that the Roar didn't do their homework and that he went under the radar because of his injury," he told goldcoast.com.au.
"He's a big plus for us.
"He's the first example of somebody who has come through the Gold Coast system to win a spot with the club, and he won't be the last."
The wraps on Brown don't stop with Bleiberg.
"He's quality, a cracking player," said Pat Hedges, Gold Coast's youth development coach.
"He scores goals and has a good football brain. He's been doing well for the Young Socceroos."
