Gold Coast United have already rattled cash-strapped Brisbane Roar by landing one of their former sponsors. Former Roar sponsor WAECO switched camps with a two-year deal believed to be worth $400,000.
The Varsity Lakes-based refrigeration company, which has a global imprint, gave the cash-strapped Roar the cold shoulder, opting not to renew its acquaintance after the expiry of its three-year deal.
Gold Coast coach Miron Bleiberg told the Gold Coast Bulletin: "It's the perfect fit. They are a Gold Coast-based company and having them on board means it's already 1-0 to us against the Roar."
