Gold Coast United have hinted they may be making a cheeky play for departed Brisbane Roar midfielder Charlie Miller.
The Scottish playmaker left the club after requesting to be released from his contract and now the Roar's Queensland rivals are seeing if they can take him as a guest player which would definitely add another element to the Boxing Day clash between the clubs in three weeks time.
"Having Charlie would add even more spice to the rivalry that we have building with Roar," said Gold Coast United Supporters Club secretary Terry Hands.
"I'm not sure what the (rules) situation is in terms of being able to get him but you'd hope that would certainly be a factor in terms of the Boxing Day turnout. It would be fantastic to break 10,000, the magic figure if you like."
Miller was set to begin training with United today as the club pursued the best way to sign him as a guest player.
