Perth Glory have failed in their bid to bring David Beckham and the Los Angeles Galaxy to Western Australia, with Melbourne being the victors. The West Australian understands the input of the Victorian State Government has helped secure Galaxy for an exclusive match against Melbourne Victory at Etihad Stadium on December 6.
Glory Chief executive Paul Kelly was resigned to missing out on the game but said the club would continue to push to bring top-quality opposition to Perth.
"We haven't been officially told but we believe it will go to Melbourne," Kelly said.
Kelly said Glory had spoken to match agents about possible friendly games in July and the State Government was keen to be involved.
"We want to chase top clubs," he said.
