Borussia Monchengladbach coach Marco Rose has warned Tottenham off Matthias Ginter.

Spurs are chasing a deal for the German defensive utility before Thursday's transfer deadline.

But Rose has made it clear he doesn't want to see Ginter sold.

"Matze has a central role as a leading player - I cannot imagine this without him at the moment!"

Rose handed Ginter the captain's armband for their 2-2 friendly draw with Chelsea on the weekend.

"I talked to Yann (Sommer) before the game. It was not a problem for him. I wanted to show Matze that he is a very important factor for me."
