Shay Given has pleaded for a fresh chance at Aston Villa.

Given, 36, is still reeling from his omission from the side which drew 1-1 at former club Newcastle United on Sunday.

Villa boss Paul Lambert revealed Given was "disappointed" to be left out against his former club, but said the experienced stopper appreciated that the team was more important than individuals. Brad Guzan, 27, responded with an impressive display and now Given wants to know where he stands.
