Girona midfielder Oriol Romeu has sung the praises of Southampton boss Ruben Selles.

Romeu worked with Selles this season before returning to Spain with Girona.

He told Marca: "I had several conversations with him and he seemed to me to be a very honest person, who is face to face. He says what he thinks and when there were difficult moments he was always one of those who looks for the positive part and find possible solutions.

"He has had to be the coach, second and once again the first coach and he has adapted to what the team needed at all times. That is why the players trust him so much and see him as a person of such confidence.

"As for his football, he is a very well-trained guy. He really likes the tactical theme, he is a fan of Rafa Benítez and there you can see a bit of his philosophy and idea. I think he is the right profile right now to get Southampton out of this situation and the results say so for now. I hope they continue with this dynamic."
