Sebastian Giovinco is ready to step in for Juventus after learning that David Trezeguet needs knee surgery.
"I certainly did not hope for my teammates to get hurt and I am disappointed for them, but in any case, I am ready," he told Tuttosport. "Unfortunately when I arrived I was a little tired after spending the summer at the Olympics, but now I am in great shape.
"The important thing for me is to play and Claudio Ranieri will decide if and where I do. I played left midfield and as a centre-forward for Empoli!"
The Under-21 international returned from that loan spell a star and already a fan favourite in Turin.
"It is a wonderful feeling to be up there with so many champions. Now I have to prove that I belong here. I want to become a key figure for Juve and it's up to me to achieve that.
"Everyone keeps telling me to keep my feet on the ground, but thankfully I am a quiet lad and with my personality that really isn't going to be a problem."
