The Holland midfielder's minders, reports Sky Sports, have informed Liverpool they're ready to discuss a new contract. But for the moment, Liverpool are yet to respond.

The player's current agreement expires next summer.

The concern for Liverpool is the midfielder's age. At 29, the Premier League champs are reluctant to enter a long-term agreement with the player.

In the 2019/20 season, Wijnaldum played 47 matches in all competitions, in which he scored 6 goals.
