In form striker Alberto Gilardino believes Fiorentina are primed for UEFA Cup success this season.

Fiorentina made the semi-finals last season only to be bundled out by eventual runners-up Rangers, but Gilardino is confident that the Champions League experiences this season will help the Viola to win the competition.

"I think we can go for it in the UEFA Cup and have the right mentality. Last season my teammates went so close to the Final and I can sense there are still regrets about that," Gilardino said after scoring the winner against Steaua Bucharest in Wednesday night's last Champions League group match.

The victory, Fiorentina's first of the campaign, ensured it finished third in the group and qualified for the remaining stages of the UEFA Cup.
