Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert suggest Carles Gil was right to compare himself to David Silva.
The 22-year old attacking midfielder said he likes to play in the same manner as the Manchester City playmaker when he signed with Villa from Valencia earlier this month.
Gil, who recently spent two seasons on loan with Elche, made his Villa debut in last weekend's home defeat to Liverpool and his performance suggests to Lambert that perhaps he is in the same mould as his compatriot Silva.
"I think he likened himself to David Silva in his first press conference. He won't go far wrong with that. He's hard to pin down on the pitch," Lambert told the club's
"He's settled really well, really quickly. What I have seen of him in the early stages has been very, very good.
"He can play anywhere along the front. He's comfortable in any place you play him."
