Gibbs praises Arsenal boss Wenger for ability to develop unknowns

Arsenal defender Kieran Gibbs has heaped praise on manager Arsene Wenger for his knack of spending little on players and turning them into stars at the Emirates Stadium.

The Frenchman constantly comes under scrutiny for not spending big on top quality players but Gibbs feels his ability to bring relative unknowns to the club and allow them to flourish should be commended.

"He has built a reputation for signing players for a modest fee and turning them into great players," Gibbs told www.fourfourtwo.com.

"I don't think many people in England had really heard of Thomas Vermaelen before he arrived and yet he became an instant fan favourite at the club.

"The manager has an eye for noticing the potential in promising players."
