Gibbs: Arsenal were patient in QPR triumph

Kieran Gibbs felt Arsenal showed maturity to remain patient in their eventual win over QPR on Wednesday night.

The Gunners got the victory over their London rivals at Loftus Road courtesy of two goals in five minutes from Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez which came in the 64th and 69th minutes.

Arsenal conceded to Charlie Austin with eight minutes remaining but were able to see it out for a vital set of three points much to the delight of left-back Gibbs.

"We know that it's always difficult when you come to this place," he told the club's official website.

"It was about keeping focused. We had a lot to deal with defensively tonight and I feel the team responded well to that.

"We just waited for our opportunity and we took it. We've scored lots of our goals this season early on and it's just whether we can hold on later in games and score.

"We have to remember that we don't have to win the game in the first half, we know we have players who can score anytime so we just have to keep a good balance in the team and wait for our opportunity.

"It's important for many reasons because we want to finish as high as possible in the league and we want to respond for the fans and people of the club. We know we're a good team so we want to show that week in, week out."
