England captain Steven Gerrard has instructed his teammates to play with a calm and controlled mindset against Montenegro this week.
The Three Lions head to Podgorica to take on the Group H leaders in World Cup qualifying and the Liverpool midfielder is aware that it is likely to be a hostile environment especially after Wayne Rooney was sent off at the same venue when the two nations last met in Euro2012 qualifying.
"It is going to be a pressure situation and we don't need to give the referee any excuse to send any of us off or give any unnecessary yellow cards," Gerrard told the FA's official website.
"It is important everyone takes responsibility and stays on the pitch. They will be trying to claim every decision, every foul and will try to intimidate the ref to make rash decisions.
"I'm sure we will have a good ref in charge who will make sensible decisions but it's important we keep our cool and keep everyone on the pitch.
"I'm sure everyone knows it before the game but I'm sure the manager will remind everyone and I'm sure that will be one of the points on the board."
