German legend Lothar Matthäus has blasted Lukas Podolski over his complaints at Arsenal.

Podolski has hinted at a January move away from Emirates Stadium on various occasions in the build-up to the mid-season window after becoming frustrated with his limited playing time.

"What Podolski seeks is not important," Matthaus told the Hamburger Morgenpost.

"What matters is what Arsenal want. There he has a contract to fulfill.

"In Bayern, he fled. The only club where he was a regular player was at Koln. You cannot always blame others if things go wrong. There are just others that are better."
