German keeper Nicht joins Montreal Impact ahead of CONCACAF Champions League

Montreal Impact have indicated that they will hand a start to Kristian Nicht in this week's CONCACAF Champions League final.

The Canadian club host Mexican side Club America in the second leg at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal on Wednesday night following the initial bout which ended 1-1 at Estadio Azteca last week.

Impact number one Evan Bush is suspended for the match while Eric Kronberg is cup-tied meaning Nicht, who has been signed from NASL club Indy Eleven, is likely to be handed the gloves for the vital fixture.

33-year old Nicht has plenty of experience having spent most of his career in his homeland playing for such clubs as Stuttgart Kickers, Alemannia Aachen and Karlsruhe along with Norwegian side Viking Stavanger.

Nicht made the move to North America in 2012 when he joined Rochester Rhinos prior to signing with Indy last year. He spent time on loan with the Impact earlier in 2015 as cover for the CCL prior to the start of Indy's NASL season.

"We are very pleased to acquire an experienced goalkeeper who is having success this season and who has had success in the past," said Impact technical director Adam Braz in a team statement.

"We know he will integrate within the group with ease as he's spent a few weeks with us during training camp as well as for games in Mexico and Olympic Stadium."
