Geordie legend Gazza: Best I've felt in long time

Rangers and Tottenham legend Paul Gascoigne says he's feeling better about the future.

The alcoholic former England midfielder, 41, shortly due to check out of a health farm, confided in his sister Anna: "I've not had a drink for weeks and this is the best I've felt in a long time."

He told her he is desperate to be reunited with his son Regan, 12, and spoke of his fury at the TV documentary on his battle against the booze. In it Regan, his son with ex-wife Sheryl, claimed he wanted his troubled father out of his life.

The ex-Spurs and Newcastle star, complained the Channel 4 show Saving Gazza was filmed while he was still sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

He blasted to the Sunday Mirror: "I'm so angry because I was unaware what was going on for large parts of the filming.

"I'd just come out of treatment when I arrived at Sheryl's. The filming took place when I was at one of the lowest points of my life. I'd been on the drink for months and can't remember Sheryl and Regan coming to see me in Portugal."
