Genoa remain keen on Mbaye Niang despite his knee injury setback.

AC Milan-owned striker Niang has undergone surgery this week and won't be fully fit until the preseason.

The young Frenchman enjoyed a successful campaign on-loan with Genoa this term.

Genoa are willing to sign Niang permanently, but will wait until August to negotiate terms when he is fully fit.

Niang's surgery was performed in Belgium.
