Rangers and Tottenham legend Paul Gascoigne says Sol Campbell will be a hit with Newcastle United.
Gazza has known Campbell since the Londoner was an apprentice at Tottenham Hotspur, and believes that Chris Hughton's judgement was spot on after handing the 35-year-old a one-year deal.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "I know Sol well, he used to clean my boots, I bet he wouldn't do that now!
"He's not too old like some people have said, he's still got a bit of pace.
"When I saw the picture of him I thought he'd been on one of my holidays to Florida!
"But seriously and joking aside, he's still a good player.
"Carroll will benefit from playing against him on a smaller pitch and he'll know what he'll be up against."
