Gazidis working on record Arsenal transfer for Schalke's Draxler

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has made a late move for Schalke midfielder Julian Draxler. The Sunday Mirror says Wenger has made a desperate last-ditch move to sign German wonderkid Draxler.

Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis was at the club's training ground yesterday trying to seal a deal which would ease the pressure on manager Wenger before the transfer window closes at 11pm on Monday.

Wenger has major reservations about the price but Arsenal have made contact with Draxler's club Schalke and are believed to be willing to pay around £40m, although the German club are demanding an astonishing £60m.
