Garitano named new Real Zaragoza coach

Ander Garitano has been named new Real Zaragoza coach.

Garitano succeeds Victor Fernandez, who left Zaragoza on Sunday after an extended run of poor results and elimination from the Copa del Rey and Europe.

Just 38, Garitano had six seasons as a player with Zaragoza and is promoted from the club's youth setup.

"I'll work morning, noon and night to bring success to this club," said Garitano at his presentation yesterday. "I have been watching the team from afar and can see that in an attacking sense they are outstanding, however defensively things need to be tightened up.

"I won't be hard on the players. They need someone to show confidence in them and we need to restore their spirit and motivation to play good football again."
