AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has explained passing on QPR midfielder Adel Taarabt.

Former Atalanta winger Giacomo Bonaventura signed for Milan on deadline day.

Galliani said: "The possible return of Taarabt? Until 10pm yesterday (Monday), I talked to the guy who wanted so much to return.

"We were looking for, however, a different player and so we chose Bonaventura."

Bonaventura joined Milan for €7 million.
