Sam Gallagher struck a mesmerizing goal in extra-time to hand 10-man Southampton the U21 Premier League Cup with a 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Monday.
After drawing 0-0 in the first-leg at Ewood Park, Southampton took the lead on 52 minutes through talented striker Ryan Seager before an unfortunate own goal from Matt Targett leveled the score.
The Saints were dealt a blow when Harrison Reed was sent off on 87 minutes but the young Southampton side reacted brilliantly after going down to 10 men.
Gallagher responded to the crisis in the 95th minute as he struck a rocket with his left foot from 25 yards to send the ball into the corner of the net and the Saints to the dais to lift the cup.
