Galatasaray turn down West Ham bid for Yilmaz

West Ham United have been rebuffed in their pursuit of Burak Yilmaz.

It is believed that Turkish club Galatasaray have rejected the Hammers overtures for the 30-year-old striker who has been prolific since arriving in Istanbul from Trabzonspor in 2012.

West Ham boss Slaven Bilic knows Yilmaz well from his days as Besiktas manager and was hoping to lure the Turkey international to East London for a fee of £3.5million but Galatasaray have turned down the offer.

"West Ham United offered us €5m [£3.5m] for Burak Yilmaz," read a statement from the Cimbom.

"But our player didn't demand leaving and also our club has no thought of selling him."
