Gael Bigirimana retains hope of making it at Newcastle United.
The young midfielder was left out of the squad that travelled to New Zealand following on from a season in which he didn't feature in the Premier League for the Magpies.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "Whatever happened last season, happened for a reason. That reason put me in a position where I had to think for myself.
"I cleared my mind and worked out what I needed to do to get in the team. I'm ready for that and I can't wait to start. I can't wait."
