Former DC United striker Luciano Emilio is still without a club butthere has been more light shed on his plight which earlier this week seemed doomed.
It turns out that the Brazilian is still eligible to join a MLS club despite the transfer deadline ending on Thursday because his most recent contract, with Rio Branco, expired on April 1 meaning he can another club at any time.
However, DCU still holds the right of first refusal and can receive compensation if a rival MLS club wants to acquire his services although Emilio is no closer to a deal elsewhere.
He has stated that he is keen to play with expansion franchise Philadelphia Union but nothing has eventuated there so he is not out of the woods in regards to his immediate playing future.
