Futacs to commit to Portsmouth

Portsmouth striker Marko Futacs is set to pledge his commitment to the club according to administrator Trevor Birch.

The 22-year old Hungarian originally missed the deadline to commit himself to Pompey, who are set to come out of administration, but Birch has revealed that the former Werder Bremen man will soon sign on with the League One club.

"I am not sure what the full position is with that," Birch told The News.

"However, I think he (Futacs) still wants a deal. The situation is not cut and dried by any means at the moment and has not definitely left.

"He had been offered a contract which is a lower figure so it is about whether he wants to accept it or not.

"That is down to him. He has not refused it, though. His agent has said he missed the deadline because he didn't think he really needed to get back in time.

"But (manager) Michael (Appleton) is still talking to his agent so we'll wait and see on that one."
