Fury signing Grant Smith feeling good in North Queensland heat

Grant Smith feels he's adjusted to the Aussie heat after signing terms with North Queensland Fury. Scottish midfielder Smith arrived in Townsville from Manchester, where he had a brief spell with non-League club Droylsden.

''I don't think I saw the sun for about three weeks before I came here, it was just cloudy and raining and now it's just snowing all the time,'' Smith told the Townsville Bulletin.

''The biggest thing was obviously the heat, but I've been here maybe a month now and I'm starting to acclimatise.'' Smith, whose previous clubs include Sheffield United, Swindon Town, Bristol City, Dundee United and HJK Helsinki, added: ''Every game I'm feeling fitter and stronger, in this heat it gets you fitter quicker.

''I think once I get a couple more games, hopefully I'll get my fitness up and keep improving as well.''
