Fulham's Dempsey, Villarreal's Altidore thriving up front for USA

Fulham attacker Clint Dempsey and Villarreal striker Jozy Altidore are forming a dangerous partnership up front for the USA national team.

Dempsey scored the winner in the weekend's clash with Honduras in Miami whilst Altidore is becoming more and more comfortable ion the international scene and both players are happy with how things are going at the moment.

"I'm able to make more of an impact on the game. I like being closer to goal, whether it's putting people in position to score or getting goals myself," said Dempsey ahead of Tuesday's clash with Ecuador.

"It's a position I can express myself, play the style I fell in love with growing up."

Whilst Altidore said it was vital for his personal game that he was playing as much as possible.

"It's huge; important for any player, you're at your sharpest when you're playing all the time,'' said Altidore.

"Playing, that's the biggest thing, and I'm getting that there. Not only that but playing at a pretty good level against good teams.

"For me it's important. I feel more confident now, I feel fitter, stronger.''
