Fulham keeper Schwarzer aware of enormity of Oman task

Australia goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer knows very well how difficult tonight's World Cup qualifier with Oman is.

The Fulham gloveman will captain the Socceroos as they seek victory in Sydney and he is well aware that this is an enormous task for he and his teammates.

"It is great to be playing back home in Australia and I'm confident we'll hit the ground running," Schwarzer said on Monday. "We need to win the game...we all know that.

"We all know how important the game is and we know we need to pick up three points."

Australia sits second on the Group B Asian table on five points from four outings, equal with fourth-placed Oman but with a game in hand.
