Fulham will move for Sven Goran Eriksson this week.
The Daily Star says the Swede is the their No.1 choice to replace Roy Hodgson, who left for Liverpool last week.
And the club now plan to make a formal approach to Eriksson's agent Athole Still and hope to begin negotiations by the end of the week.
Eriksson is available after coaching the Ivory Coast in the World Cup and is believed to be open to the possibility of working in the Premier League again.
Al Fayed and chief executive Alistair Mackintosh, who worked with Eriksson at Manchester City, will handle the talks although the pair are prepared to look elsewhere if a financially viable deal can't be thrashed out.
